Vtape, Canada’s largest distributor of independent media art is seeking a Distribution Assistant. Working directly with Vtape’s Distribution Director in a training scenario, the Distribution Assistant will be responsible for:

* Providing assistance to the Distribution Director;
* Maintaining effective and timely communication with Vtape’s distribution clients,

including festivals, exhibition venues, museums, galleries, and educational institutions; * Coordinating shipping, receiving, invoicing details and maintenance of supplies;
* Working collaboratively to administer distribution strategies for the works in our

collection, maintaining artists’ files and contractual documents;
* Attending selected festivals, special presentations, receptions, workshops, events

and/or panel discussions.

You are:
* An Aboriginal person (First Nations, Inuit or Innu) living in the GTA, and currently

unemployed;
* Interested in the arts and the not-for-profit arts sector;
* Self-motivated, highly organized, able to work towards regular deadlines;
* A person with strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills;
* Web-literate and familiar with Mac computers;
* Comfortable working in a cooperative environment, within a small staff structure with a

commitment to cultural equity and non-discrimination.

The following would be assets in this position:
* Familiarity with or experience in a not-for-profit arts organization;
* Familiarity with independent video and media arts;
* Knowledge of languages in addition to English;
* Familiarity with FileMaker Pro and other common Mac applications.

This is a full-time training position beginning April 3, 2023 and ending March 29th, 2024. This is an ASETS Placement supported by Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training. Applicants for this position must be Aboriginal persons living in the GTA, and be currently unemployed. This position is subject to government funding.
