This videotape titled F I L M evolved from an initial impulse to download film noir sequences without characters in the footage. My PIXABAY search instead yielded sequences of almost completely black (or almost completely white) film stocks. I decided to combine the specks and scratches of film footage with moving images of filmic necessities (reels etc.).
I am referencing structuralist film but also poking at a widespread tendency to consider video art to be "film."
The audio for F I L M consists of a basic one note drone… perhaps referring to a running projector or some humming machine.
