Canada Shadows

1983, 25:00 minutes, colour

TAPECODE 9084

The Canadian Shadows Players are a group of Vancouver Pataphysicians who specialize in the esoteric study of umbrology. This video is the document of their explorations. In it we are led deep into the shadows of civilisation. God and the devil discuss the manachean play of light and dark; Doctor Faustrol encounters the Snoutfigs; the Vogue lady falls in love with Monsieur Michaud, inventor of the safety bicycle. The songs of the shadow world are sung in Latin, English and Pygmy Adlib, a Polyglot "lingua franca" that renders the text understandable to all tongues.
