In serious and comic fashion, The Fair illustrates the myths about racial and ethnic difference that are told to children by adults - particularly during the 50's and early 60's.
Darla re-visits the site of the 1964 New York World's Fair, which sparks certain memories of her childhood experiences with these differences, and her feelings about her own Italian-American ethnicity. Archival footage of the fair, news footage of the Civil Rights Demonstrations opening day, and home movies, help the character tell her story.
