Papua Merdeka! documents the independence struggle in the Indonesian colony of West Papua - Irian Jaya. The native people of West Papua are being obliterated by a repressive Indonesian military campaign, large scale multi-national exploitation of natural resources and a massive Canadian sponsored transmigration program. With estimates of 150,000 Papuans killed by the Indonesian regime the situation is nothing less than a modern day genocide.

Papua Merdeka!
documents the destruction of the land and people on the island of New Guinea. Papua Merdeka! includes interviews with refugees, resistence leaders and former Indonesian political prisoners. Within years the 50,000 year old Papuan culture is threatened with extermination. A twenty-five year old liberation movement, the Organisasi Papua Merdeka (OPM), has fought to preserve one of the last of the Earth's giant rainforests from complete annihilation.
