Corps d'oeuvres

1988, 16:40 minutes, colour

TAPECODE 9138

A female introduces fragments of paintings on a dance sequence. The metaphoric body constitutes the essence of the work's content. Two tales conjugate in the present and the past. One tells the tale of man's pursuit and the menace his intervention represents to nature, while the other, using paintings by Caravaggio, Della Francesca, and Rousseau evokes a savage nature from which people and animals emerge.
In
Corps d'oeuvres, Lynda Gaudreau's choreography and Chantal du Pont's created objects formally conjugate through recurring editing techniques, electronic incrustation, and Pierre Dostie's original musical score.
