"Mess is the natural breakdown of order in the universe, honey"
4
Written and directed by Elizabeth Schroder, Where Does Mess Come From? is a story of chaos in its most pedestrian form. The constant breakdown of order in the universe is also the constant breakdown of order in our lives. The need to clean house is also the need to straighten up nonsensical relationships.
A man and a woman are traveling to an undisclosed location by train. As in life, the getting there is all the fun. They are joined by two rural women, a witch and a paternalistic train conductor. Reality shifts radically as the woman is faced with her subconscious dreams and desires. Humorous and disturbing, Where Does Mess Come From? eroticizes the male subject while examining that awkward gulf between men and women.
