John Todd was an art student enrolled in my video class at the University of California, Irvine during 1976-77 for which he produced many isolated solo performances, often with only one other person in the room, which he taped with a static B&W video camera and reel to reel portapack. After seeing several of these performances, we decided to collaborate on the editing process in that I wouldedit his work for one version and he for another. This video is my edited result of all of his material he produced over 2 semesters. His rather odd naivety and strangeness matched my idea of a Southern Californian type that met my expectations of what I was looking for. This tape is a portrait sketch document of John Todd during this time in his life as a would-be performance artist.
