Angelus Intimus examines the power of prescribed gender roles. As a female producer and spectator working within a male-oriented tradition (film/television) I am interested in posing a number of questions. Are the roles of viewer / subject and observed / object necessarily masculine and feminine? Is the Gaze always male? How are images constructed in the unconscious and how do they operate in terms of projection and transference? Is it possible to change these images? Is there a common ground between self and other?
