This work is above all the title of an environment created in 1986 by Paul Grégoire and presented at the Oboro Gallery. The video's authors, Grégoire and Y. Laurendeau, co-produced a work of fiction based on this event. The viewer follows the comings and goings of three deer in the city of Montréal, and even their entrance on the stage of the spectrum.
Being questioned is the delimitation between the terrritories man has appropriated for himself and those he has reserved for wildlife. The notion of "crossing" (Traverse) an area reserved for the possible encroachment of one species upon the territory of the other illustrates the only interaction which can take place...

Traverse est d'abord le titre d'un environnement créé en 1986 par Paul Grégoire à la galerie Oboro. Les auteurs du vidéo, Grégoire et Laurendeau, ont co-réalisé une fiction à partir de cet événement. On y voit les déplacements de trois chevreuils dans la ville et même leur montée sur la scène du Spectrum.
La délimitation entre les territoires que l'homme s'est appropriés et ceux qu'il a réservés à la faune est ici questionnée. La notion de"traverse," comme lieu réservé à l'empiètement possible d'une espèce sur le terrritoire de l'autre, illustre ici la seule interaction possible...
