Why Don't You Just Leave? presents a blend of poetic images, uncomprimising text and voices of men and women exploring the realities and outcomes of domestic violence towards women. Created as a video installation piece for the travelling exhibition Why Don't You Just Leave? of paintings by Anne Popperwell, this videotape creates a new and artistic way to contextualize and express this very important subject.
Why Don't You Just Leave? was produced by Anne Popperwell, a noted West Coast artist whose work spans many genres of painting over several decades in collaboration with Al Razutis, an internationally recognized film and video artist.
We are confident that this tape will be a moving experience for the viewer and produce a context of lively discussion and analysis of violence towards women in our society. Suitable for university programs and societies interested in exploring and providing remedy for discrimination and violence against victims of spousal abuse.
