SCUM!!! manifesto

1996, English

TAPECODE 10118

"Life in this society being, at best, an utter bore and no aspect of society being at all relevant to..."

SCUM manifesto is an attempt to analyze and understand the full meaning of a very problematic text: the SCUM manifesto by Valerie Solanas, the woman who shot and nearly killed Andy Warhol in 1968. By using the technique of systematically replacing meaningful words, deeper implications of the text are brought to light: the text can be understood as being about the problem of the interface. The function of the interface is to connect 2 different things - the same can be said about sex.
Problems around the (sex) interface arise constantly, dependent and independent from the power positions of the class or group on either side of it.
Where there is interfacing, there is friction, pain and abuse. At the same time, interfacing is necessary and unavoidable.
