We Move in Two's

1996, English

TAPECODE 10125

We Move in Two's is an experimental web-work. This piece attempts to convey the relationship between texture and memory. The work is not ESP interactive. Proceeding in sequence from an animated manic state to a near static passive one the images slow down and then centre themselves on the computer screen. This work makes abstract and photographic presentations of touch and memory, seemingly personal and semi-erotic in nature, it evokes humour and arousal. The beginning of the work seems light and witty. The middle of the work "memory is meaning" makes the transition to the semi-erotic sequence "soft-hands" (based on a Japanese Geisha pose for pleasure massage). The work ends with a close-up view of the human body (female).
There has been a great deal of discussion, legislation and argument regarding censorship on the internet. This piece follows the view that freedom of choice is a personal one, supporting free speach online. This is however an artwork and should be seen as an extention of the history of nude painting, sculpture and photograpy.
