Americans (Mer-kins) - Elvis Lives

1988, 26:15 minutes, colour, English

TAPECODE 559.00

Mer-Kins is a look at a cross section of the people of the United States from the point of view of a Canadian. It was shot entirely using 8mm home video during a trip through the States in a 1963 Studebaker Hawk. More than twelve hours of footage was recorded on this thirty day adventure (from Ottawa to Hollywood and back.) It is a collage of people, places and events that they encountered. It is designed not to convey hard facts about the U.S.A. but to capture the essence of its culture in vignette form.
