Ancient Voices, The Singing Forest

1995, 12:08 minutes

TAPECODE 10207

On a cloudy day in the Kootenay mountains, a tree planter was astonished to hear the forest across the valley singing a hymn of praise to Creation. Then the forest called to her with a profound message. Hearing of this call, people of British Columbia, Canada, are renewing their spiritual connection to the earth. Their non-religious, grassroots approach created a practice which could be called Deep Ecology or Ecofeminism. Their efforts to make the Earth sacred again are portrayed in this moving documentary, made with the assistance of Dr. David Suzuki, actor Matt Frewer ("Max Headroom"), wildlife artist Robert Bateman, and Peter Hamill, spokesperson for the Anglican Church of Canada. This video takes you into this inspiring ancient forest, and into the struggle to prevent clear-cutting in the Singing Forest.
