... of persistence of absence

1991, 10:20 minutes, English

TAPECODE 10230

Speaking of vision, questioning reality and our perception of it, the installation includes a sand-filled boat with an imprint of an absent person. Above the absent person's head, a videotape is shown on a monitor facing up. The tape is a visual rendition of a text by Buckminster Fuller, describing the evolution of his vision. The same text is super-imposed on the city, living behind a glass-wall, becoming part of this inquiry of inside and outside.
The installation was first shown at the Museu de Arte Moderna, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1992.
