Vision Dance

1982, 60:00 minutes, English

TAPECODE 3050.02

In its 17th year of artistic and cultural exchange with the Lakota Sioux of South Dakota, Solaris and the Solaris Lakota Project began as an extension of the company's artist-in-residence programs on Rosebud and Pine Ridge Reservations. The resulting dance theatre piece, Vision Dance (based on "Ihanbla Waktoglag Wacipi") was performed throughout the United States and toured Africa and Europe. Everywhere audiences thrilled to the impressive company of Solaris members and traditional dancers and drummers from the Lakota Sioux reservations, in the Black Hills and Badlands. Thirteen Lakota Plains dances are featured.
