Legend tells how the early explorer Kupe chased a giant octopus across the Pacific Ocean to Aotearoa, New Zealand. 1000 years later Hekenukumai Busby, a building contractor from Aurere Beach realized his dream - to build a traditional double-hulled waka and retrace the paths of his ancestor Kupe. Follows the journey of the waka Te Aurere. Also a journey of rediscovery back into ancient Maori traditions and early navigation techniques, skills which have almost become lost.
