The Drums Keep Sounding: The Story of Miss Lou

Cynthia Wilmot

1995, 70:00 minutes, colour, English

TAPECODE 914.01

The Drums Keep Sounding is inspired by the stories and legends surrounding the life of Jamaica's beloved "Miss Lou" and is dedicated with 'nuff respect' to the Honourable Louise Bennett-Coverly, folklorist, poet and activist.
This production combines Miss Lou telling her story in her won words with dramatiozed recreations of high points in her life. Our interpretation of the story, expressed at times with honour, at times with pathos, is a tribute to a woman sho in the words of Tony Rebel in the video, "has been a visionary, and without a vision, a people perish."
