Danse Octane

Stephen Foster and Deron Mitchel

1999, 06:00 minutes, colour, English

Moving yet still. In this video the viewer is asked to be at once in the landscape and simultaneously floating high above it, a part of the experience while remaining detached through the mediation of video. The nostalgic strains of a vinyl recorded rumba repeat and the poetic observations of a road trip oscillate with random word rants of Air/Bird/Car to create a fragmented narrative. This video is a dance of image and sound abstract yet concrete.
