TAPECODE 9033

This video uses an inlaying technique to create the background for a wrestling match between two men. The inlaid segments are from a black and white film shot as a "cinéma-vérité." They illustrate the typical reactions displayed by spectators attending any major sporting event. A third shot crosses the screen in the form of an ironic advertisement-like message. The result is a technological recreation of the atmosphere of a televised match. Although a connection between this work and Falardeau's-Poulin's 1971 work, Continuons le Combat, may be implied, Bébé Bière's emphasis, unlike the other work, is on technology rather than theory...
