Crippled Communication Resolved examines the repression of memory as a coping tool for emotional trauma. It is the first of 3-collaborative videos completed with fellow artist Todd Ribalkin. The work is about breakdowns in human communication and focuses on two characters (played by Ribalkin and Gotro), essentially mirror images of each other dressed in identical grey suits, wandering mechanically, deadpan and disconnected from their surroundings. Little to no emotion is displayed while they walk, stand, sit, close doors and move objects in search of something. What they are searching for is not revealed: perhaps they are looking for traces of each other; perhaps they are looking for their former selves? To look without seeing, to move without feeling -they do not find. Simply these individual are trapped somewhere behind their own walls.

Shot and edited in 2001, was co-directed by Todd Ribalkin and Brian Kent Gotro.
