Dr. Galba introduced the techniques of these women into his hospital and insisted that young medical students train with midwives out in the community. Peggy Olsthoon, a midwife herself, has created a resource that shows the same respect to birthing mothers and to the rural women of Brazil that was the hallmark of Dr. Galba's practice.
