Il y a un siècle exactement, près de deux cent Suisses romands émigraient dans la vallée du Pecos, une région désertique située dans le sud-est du Nouveau-Mexique. Une intense promotion menée dans leur pays sur les transformations miraculeuses que l'irrigation avait opérées sur ce territoire les avaient convaincus qu'ils pourraient y faire fortune. Agriculteurs, vignerons, ou jeunes aventuriers de bonne famille, les colons suisses allaient tenter deux années durant d'obtenir les fabuleuses récoltes qu'on leur avait promises...
Exactly a century ago, nearly two hundred Romansh (French-speaking Swiss) emigrated to the barren Pecos valley, in South-east New Mexico. An intense advertizing campaign on the territory's miraculous transformation through irrigation had convinced the Romansh settlers that fortune was theirs for the asking.
