This video is an extraction from the forthcoming series Three Weeks in Quarantine (2020). The four videos in that suite are made from a collection of fragmented images. The recorded moments are the tracing of a bodily habit through space, during the first lockdown in Ontario at the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic (March 2020). On limited walks outdoors, I concentrated on particular elements of ordinary, overlooked architecture. I created several videos depicting interior and exterior architectural details from around the Rideau-Vanier neighbourhood in response to this exploration. These works combine structural elements and objects using my body as a conduit to reconsider how they are understood. This is one such video.

Shell Scene humorously depicts 'home entertainment' or finding means to amuse yourself with limited resources. The video also has a darker undertone of loneliness and anxiety. Arguably, much of the lockdown and pandemic have created feelings of displacement and insecurity. While ambiguous, the short videos offer a moment of meditation for viewers and an opportunity to look longer and deeper. Doing so intends to guide and implicate the viewer by exploring how space informs and amplifies emotional responses. A variation of this video was projected in a storefront window in Ottawa's Byward Market, as part of the Microcosm pivot initiatives with the City of Ottawa's Public Art Department.
