Mirjam Linschooten

Mirjam Linschooten (1976, Netherlands) is a Dutch visual artist and researcher living and working in Amsterdam. In her practice she works with publication, film, installation, photography, collage, and writing. Her work is mainly concerned with various forms of colonial heritage and how historical institutions engage with this. She aims to counterbalance dominant stories about culture and history, by creating alternative collections, making visible a forgotten history, and bringing together multiple perspectives. Mirjam has participated in international residency programs and has exhibited in various institutions internationally, including CBK Zuidoost (Amsterdam), Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (Leiden), Cemeti Institute for Art and Society (Yogyakarta), De Appel (Amsterdam), Contemporary Art Gallery (Vancouver), Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven), Artellewa (Cairo), Museum of Modern Art (Tétouan), Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto).
