Patricia Rivera Spencer
A computer drone by day, and screenwriter at night, Patricia Spencer has long been interested both in writing and in motion pictures. With over 15 years of experience as a professional journalist (and more recently as a technical writer), Patty had made only one 24-minute videotape, and a number of short filmic exercises, before deciding in 1988 to produce Dreamers of the Day, a feature-length lesbian romantic comedy based on a screenplay she had written.
Patty considers herself to be a writer first, then a videographer/ filmmaker. She says that producing pictures is just a way of telling stories to a wider audience. Active in the lesbian community, she lives in Kingston with her lover, two dogs, and a child.
