Scott Robinson

Scott Robinson was born in Vancouver B.C. on December 14, 1961. As a student at "The New School" (innovative education) he began shooting and printing photographs at the age of ten. Upon graduating from high school Scott traveled for a year through the Caribbean, Great Britain, Western Europe, India, Nepal, Burma, Singapore and Thailand. Photographing and writing extensively during this time, these travels were a source of intense cultural and philosophical learning and inspiration. In 1983 Scott began study at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design and graduated in 1987 with honours in Film and Video. As a performer he has been involved with the local New Music scene since 1980, and has produced videos for a number of Vancouver's foremost alternative bands. Equally interested in the audio and visual aspects of media he composes and plays the music and soundscapes for his experimental pieces, often performing them onscreen. His work has been shown internationally in Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe. "Time and space are the constants which rule the material world. On an energy level there is no time or space. Energy can not be created or destroyed, it just changes form. There is a sea of information which can be accessed and translated into the material world as sound and image. This, I feel, is my job as an artist." -S.R.
