Susan B. Halpern
After receiving her MFA in Media Studies from the Ohio State University Susan B. Halpern worked as an editor in broadcast television and continued to create award winning independent films. Her personal work has been screened in a variety of places including: the 15th Festival International Du Film Super 8 et Video Brussels, P.S. 122 in NYC, The Los Angeles Institute for Contemporary Art, The Mill Valley Film Festival, The Glasgow Centre for Contemporary Art, The Exploding Cinema in London, UK, The Columbus Museum of Art, Sun University, Guangzhou , China, The South Eastern Center for Contemporary Art, The Museum of Voivodina, Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, and The Collective For Living Cinema. Ms. Halpern has received various awards and grants for her work including the NEA Regional Fellowships in both Media (1991) and Inter Arts (1992), and is also a six time recipient of the Ohio Arts Council’s Individual Artist’s Fellowship. Ms. Halpern has completed residencies at the prestigious Headlands Center For The Arts in Sausalito, CA, at the Banff Center For The Arts in Alberta, Canada, and at the Wexner Center For The Arts. Originally from New York, Ms. Halpern now lives in Columbus, Ohio, USA. In 2003 she became the Executive Director of the Columbus International Film + Video Festival, the longest running film festival in the United States.
