McLaren reviews a new film by Ali Kazimi which looks at the history surrounding the immigrants aboard the Komagat Maru who were rejected upon sailing into the Vancouver harbour in 1914. This film looks at Canada's immigration policies, and blatent racism coming from not only citizens, but also the government and the tolerance of the majority at the time. Kazimi is has made six films in the past deacde and this film is indicative of his experience as a story-teller and image-maker.
