Enormous Changes At The Last Minute: The videos of Emily Vey Duke and Cooper Battersby
Cinema Scope, Spring 2005, no. 22, pp. 27-29
Tokyo: National Museum of Modern Art, 2005
McBride reviews the work of Canadian Video Artist collaborators Vey Duke and Battersby. The couple's work addresses self-image, the idea of multiple selves and identity, balancing these subjects with artistic integrity and humour. Vey Duke describes the work as 'aphoristic,' tying it to the art of writing; this in turn references one of Vey Duke-Battersby's main influences, Steve Reinke, who also utilizes the monologues in much of his work.
