Hotel California: The 1985 San Francisco International Video Festival
Afterimage, Dec. 1985, v. 13, no. 5, p. 4
A review on both the content and execution of the 1985 San Francisco International Video Festival. Thought to be too exclusive, it triggered the creation of a fringe festival, Video Refusés, which sought to bring new video works to light instead of just showing the same artists that had been seen for years. This article goes on to discuss how video was becoming too elitest, and making it difficult for emerging artist to show their work. A review of the works is also included.
