The Architecture of Representation: Video Works by Judith Barry

by Margaret Morse

Afterimage, Oct. 1987, v. 15, no. 3, pp. 8-11

A look at Judith Barry's career as a video artist, and a look at several of her video projects.

Judith Barry's installation and single-channel video works of the 1980s are primarily concerned with the topographics of imagery in everyday life. She views her work as an attempt to make explicit a new kind of subjectivity, which is not easily articulated, not spoken, but seen and intensely felt.
