At a time when women filmmakers heavily explored video, The Whitney Museum held the, New American Film Makers Series, which raised issues of feminist, political and social relevance. This article focuses on the thirteen video works, included the exhibition Social Engagement:Women's Videos in the 80's at the Whitney Museum of American Art, which examine a wide range of social and political issues, from woman's labor and the economy to lesbianism and homosexual rights.
