Art Nexus, Feb. Spring 1999, no. 31, pp. 40-44
The article focuses on the politics of space and ethnic identity in a selection of works by Manglano-Ovalle. With specific attention to the immigrant's experience, Manglano-Ovalle re-exaimines space and stereotyoes by focusing on the production of meaning and difference in an multicultural environment. Sokoloff remarks, "As a critique of the social problems of multicultural centers where conflict and derogatory stereotypes reign, Manglano-Ovalle offers the viewer, through the artistic object, some basic instruments for reflections" (41).
