Lesbians and Gays Make the Movies
cineACTION, Fall 1992, no. 30, pp. 78-82
Review of queer programming in the Festival of Festivals (1992). A response to four films: Kalin's Swoon; Hammer's Nitrate Kisses; Pohjola's Daddy and the Muscle Academy; Christopher's The Dead Boy's Club. "This year, there was a particularly rich and varied collection of films dealing with lesbians and gays and their concerns. These films, at present fashionably referred to as queer films, range widely in mode from narrative realist filmmaking to the documentary, the experimental and the avant-garde; similarly, the subject matter and origins of these works is highly diverse."
