NEIL ARMSTRONG: Videotapes. May 12.

by G.S.W. Jones

Parallelogramme, Aug. 1982, v. 7, no. 6, pp. 54-55

English artist Neil Armstrong showed his videotapes at Off Centre a presentation of Centre Art Video. It was one of several stops at artist-run centres in Canada, a tour sponsored by the British Arts Council. Armstrong showed three of his tapes: I'm With You- True Blue, In Praise of Non-Representation, and The Making of a Legend.

The nature of video as a number of processes also allows Armstrong to demonstrate his mastery of various roles: as a 'painter' of visual images, as an 'actor', in his own tapes, and as a producer of the total work.
