Artists and Models: The Video Data Bank showcases its savings at MOMA
Time Out New York, Jan. 25, 2007, p. 83
The Video Data Bank, started by Kate Horsfield and Lyn Blumenthal in 1976, opens its doors to the public with an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. Entitled Feedback, the collection depicts mostly early documents and video art by female artists. Many of the available tapes are interviews with estabished women artists, filmed with the intention of showing young artists the variety of mediums and materials they could work with. Though the organization was started with only a single portapak and a desire to speak with practicing artists, the Video Data Bank now contains over 4000 tapes of work and documentation.
