Ruling expected as video artist seeks injunction
The Globe and Mail, Feb. 27, 1984, p. 15
Video artist Paul Wong seeks a court injunction against the Vancouver Art Gallery for cancelling his show Confused: Sexual Views, co-produced by Jeanette Reinhardt, Gina Daniels and Gary Bourgeois. After viewing the material, curator Luke Rombout deemed it to have no aesthetic value, and to possibly be considered indecent. Wong asks for the injunction because the cancellation would cause "irreparable damages" to his reputation. As well, Wong argues there is nothing indecent about the content of the video, which features 27 individuals speaking openly and directly about sexuality.
