This article discusses the work of Christina Battle, focusing on her installation piece Uncharted Histories: Pirates. Battle's work often involves celluloid hand-processing techniques, used to explore themes of history, memory and ideology. The still images in the installation were created through a complicated process that involves a 35mm movie camera.
