Christina Battle: Strangers in a Strange Land: Christina Battle's Pirates
YYZine, Mar. 2008, v. 8, no. 2
This article discusses the work of Christina Battle, focusing on her installation piece Uncharted Histories: Pirates. Battle's work often involves celluloid hand-processing techniques, used to explore themes of history, memory and ideology. The still images in the installation were created through a complicated process that involves a 35mm movie camera. The centre piece of the installation is a dual-channel video projection juxtaposing images of familiar scenes with images of piracy.
