Out At Work
Variety, Feb. 3, 1997, v. 339, no. 1, p. 50
Review of Out At Work, a short documentary based on discrimination against homosexuals in the workplace. The film is structured to follow three individuals who defy typical assumptions about gays; they are middle class, blue collar and live with common law partners respectively. Their struggles within the workplace concerning having to perform according to "normal heterosexual values," being ostracized for standing up against discrimination and lacking domestic partner health coverage are addressed first seperately, then intertwined. The effect is emotionally resonant document - an effective tool to address workplace discrimination.
