Kent Monkman: Art Gallery of Hamilton, Hamilton
Canadian Art, Winter 2007, v. 24, no. 4, pp. 118-119
This article is a review of Kent Monkman's exhibition The Triumph of MIschief at the Art Gallery of Hamilton. Monkman's installation evokes a Victorian drawing room into which disruptive elements have been inserted. The installation includes paintings and video works. According to the author, the humourous and compelling nature of Monkman's work allows audiences "to sidestep horrific and very real histories of sexual and physical abuse and cultural genocide."
