Artist David Askevold began his studies as an artist at the University of Montana in 1958. Following this he attended the Brooklyn Museum School of Art in 1963 on a scholarship. At this time he worked primarily in painting. He went on to study at the Kansas City Art Institute (1966) where he was encouraged to apply for a teaching position at NSCAD (1968). There he developed and taught a course called Projects that gained international recognition. His video work engages practices of traditional television while simultaneously avoiding the traditional ends of television.
