TV Exhibit not art, court told
The Sun, Feb. 25 Winter, 1984
Luke Rombout, curator and director of the Vancouver Art Gallery, cancelled video artist Paul Wong's show on February 21 1984. After having watched three hours of tape he claimed the work has no artistic merit and may also offend the general membership of the gallery. In court, Wong's lawyers hold that the artist and the gallery had a contract that stated the gallery would show this work. The gallery, on the other hand, claims that the contract does not articulate this.
