Of Arabs and Museum and Civilizations
Fuse, Feb. Winter 2001, v. 25, no. 1, pp. 24-27
In the few years before the events of September 11 the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Hull decided to organize an exhibition reflecting the current state of Arab -Canadians in Canada. Not long after 9/11 the Museum hastily decided to cancel the show and take time to "put it in context" to the events. The artists decided to write a letter to the media describing the situation. The controversy created by this went all the way to the House of Commons where it was unanimously decided the show must continue. This article describes some of the complications that arose despite the show's continuation.
