An article on film-maker Premika Ratnam who was nominated for the Women on the Move award in 1995. Pratnam left her native India in 1983 to study film-making at the University of Toronto and since then has produced several short films and commercials. The inspiration for her work is drawn from working closely with immigrant women's groups, including the Coalition of Visible Minority Women and the Association of Women in India.
