Stagecraft: Tate Modern takes on performance
Canadian Art, June Summer 2008, v. 25, no. 2, pp. 60-64
The exhibition The World As A Stage at the Tate Modern consists of artists exploring the idea of theatricality in art. Through performaces, sculpture, installation and film, the selected artists investigate the idea of being the viewer while simultaneously being viewed, celebrity culture and technology as well as engaging in performative references to the anti-theatre of the Dadaists and "rule plays" of Hillar Liitoja.
