This article discusses a symposium, held at the Art Gallery of Ontario, that examined the tendency to use personal information in art. Focusing mainly on film, but including a series of videotapes selected by Peggy Gale, the works presented at the symposium and discussed in this article are considered part of the genre known as autobiographical art.
