Inuit Tell Their Own Stories
Aboriginal Voices, Nov. 1997, no. 219, p. 51
This article details a series of thirteen half-hour programs called Nunavut (Our Land) recreating Inuit daily life in 1945 produced by the Iglook Isuma Production Company and lead by Zacharias Kunuk. Kunuk explains that Nunavut marks the first time an Inuit production team has made a dramatic television series from an Inuit point of view and describes the work as an act of national self-determination. Kunuk also decries the influence of southern media on the Inuit way of life.
