Mike Kelley details the career of artist David Askevold from his first encounter's with the eccentric artist, when he was his student at California Institute of the Arts. Kelley details his joint work with Askevold called The Poltergeist (1979) and their subsequent works together. Kelley also addresses the early years of video art in California and an attempt to create a video art bar which would feature videos for patrons. Kelley also addresses Askevold's use of appropriation through re-photography.
